Okay, wise guys… now what?
A lot of readers mentioned they would be interested in having email ideas either sent straight to their inbox, or loaded up inside the community.
So today I'm running a little experiment.
I went digging through my own archives to see which emails actually performed. And which ones might provide you with some inspiration. One in particular stood out. But before I tell you which one, I want you to try something playful first because it’s going to help “grease the wheels” on your idea for today’s email.
So bear with me…
There's an old Roadrunner cartoon called Soup or Sonic.
It's the one where, after decades of failed rocket skates, catapults, and ACME-brand explosives, Wile E. Coyote finally catches the Road Runner. But there’s just one problem. By the time he grabs him, the coyote has shrunk down so small he's barely the size of the Road Runner's ankle.
So he looks straight at the audience and holds up a tiny sign that says something like:
===
"Okay, wise guys. You always wanted me to catch him. Now what do I do?"
===
He finally got the thing he'd been chasing his entire life. And the very first thing it handed him was a brand new problem.
I first learned the marketing version of this from Alex Hormozi.
He says something like (and I’m paraphrasing): don't tell people you'll help them "get more clients." Tell them they're going to run out of credit card order forms because people are signing up too fast. Tell them they'll have to rearrange the gym floor just to make room for all the new members.
Those are real problems.
But they’re problems that your ideal clients would probably be jealous of. Which brings me to the email I found for today in my archives.
It was written around something a client said to me after 30 days of working together:
===
"I don't have room for 1-on-1's anymore."
===
After months of ups-and-downs, and struggling to stay in the black, she wasn’t complaining, she was thrilled to hit a record month.
But it was still a genuine problem that needed solving.
She had a full plate of other responsibilities, couldn't run the business full-time, and the 1-on-1 model hit a ceiling. So we spent our time reorganizing things around a group coaching model so she could keep helping people (and stay profitable).
Running out of room for 1-on-1’s was the goal and the problem. But it’s a problem a lot of people would like to have.
So it’s a bit like coyote catching the roadrunner…
===
“Okay… now what?”
===
So here's your idea for today's email:
What's a problem you (or your clients) are working to solve right now… that someone a few steps behind would gladly trade for?
That one sentence is proof and promise at the same time.
Write about that in today's email. And if you do, reply back with a copy or a link. I'd love to read it.
Talk soon,
Kevin Hood
